Spring Break Must Reads – Day 2

7 books in 7 days….Spring Break Must Reads!

Day 1 – Her Highland Champion by Alexa Bourne

Day 2 takes us to a different genre. Moonlight on the Nantahala by Micheal Rivers is a paranormal fiction with a hint of thriller, a hint of romance and a full bodied story with rich characters..  I said I would direct you to lesser known authors who weave fascinating tales. Today’s novel is no exception, although Mr. Rivers has been sharing his talent with readers for quite some time.

It’s a love story. A ghost story. A story of salvation and renewal. A timeless tale that weaves slowly through your heart, capturing your emotions with its beauty. A novel written with such eloquence that shortly after most readers turn the final page, they find themselves searching for other titles by this masterful writer.

Moonlight tells the story of Edward Caulfield, an elderly man who has lived in the shadow of a lost love for most of his life. Enter a troubled young woman named Lena, add a dash of  ghostly conversation, and Edward forms an unlikely friendship that allows him to experience a different kind of love. During regular visits, we learn of the events and sorrow that brought each of  them to the same spot, and the healing that helps each to move on to the next phase. It reminds me of an old adage, “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.”

Moonlight on the Nantahala wraps around you like a slow moving river, providing the motion to carry you downstream but allowing enough time to savor the trip. This is the second novel I’ve read by Micheal Rivers. I suspect it will not be my last.
