KISS OF WRATH evokes a lot of emotion and in my opinion, that’s paramount for a memorable read. Especially when you’re still thinking about it a day later.

This was my first venture into the Deadly Angels series by Sandra Hill. I wasn’t sure what to expect which may or may not have enhanced the experience. The opening chapter details . . . emphasis on “details” . . . the horrific death of Viking Mordr’s wife and two small children. I don’t do well with graphic violence, especially against children or animals, so I continued to read with caution. My concerns were soon alleviated as the story jumped from ancient history to a contemporary setting.

Mordr has been recruited by Archangel Michael to become a warrior Vampire Angel. I thought that an odd combination but Ms. Hill builds her fantasy world well and it all makes sense as the story unfolds. He is soon sent to Las Vegas on special assignment to protect Miranda Hart, a psychologist who has just inherited her late cousin’s five children.

The children’s abusive father, Roger, is in prison but not for long. He blames Miranda for ruining his life and stealing his children. When he is paroled, his first thought is to find Miranda and kill her. An unfortunate side story involves his accomplice who is a pedophile with an eye on Roger’s five year old daughter.

And to shake up things and add a little zest, we have Demon Vampires who are reeking havoc on Vegas, as well.

Mordr arrives on Miranda’s doorstep to offer protection but is immediately mistaken for the new nanny. After the death of his son and daughter, he cannot bear to be around children  so the situation proves unsettling to our handsome Viking hero, to say the least. Even more unsettling is the intense attraction he feels for Miranda.

You can probably fill in the blanks for the remainder of the story but it’s a fun read with lots of hot passion and angst-  and some even hotter sex scenes.

I can’t imagine the research Ms. Hill  put into building the Viking elements of the story. The early dialogue, description of land and castles, even clothing , was authentic and well done.

This was an action packed read with a lot of characters and several sub-plots. I was intrigued by KISS OF WRATH and anticipate reading more of the titles involving “Deadly Angels”. Make sure you enter the tour wide contest. You might be the lucky winner of an entire set of the Deadly Angels series.

Book Description:

No wicked wenches or wild rampages…it’s been centuries since Mordr the Berserker was turned into a Vangel-a Viking Vampire Angel-as punishment for his sin of wrath, and he’s been frustrated ever since. It’s not so bad being stuck in modern-day Las Vegas. What better place to slay Lucipires, or demon vampires, than the original Sin City. But then Mordr Sigurdsson’s mission is expanded to a new assignment: protect lust-worthy Miranda Hart.

Miranda’s well- ordered life turned into chaos when she unexpectedly inherited her late cousin’s five children. Now, her cousin’s dangerous husband is about to be paroled, and she needs a miracle to keep them all safe. That miracle arrives on her doorstep in the form of a very buff, handsome man with a very strange name. Mordr wants nothing to do with a red-haired wench or children. Miranda wants nothing to do with gorgeous hunk who claims to be a Viking.

As Miranda and Mordr give in to temptation, they must decide if they fit in each other’s worlds-before their enemies close in on them.
